Dr. Davis is a 60-year-old multi-sport athlete who has personally overcome numerous medical and orthopedic injuries throughout his lifetime. His deep understanding of recovery and resilience stems not only from personal experience but also from nearly three decades of clinical practice in sports medicine and almost 40 years of teaching. Drawing upon this unique combination of firsthand insight and professional expertise, Dr. Davis has developed effective, evidence-based strategies for maintaining performance, preventing injury, and promoting long-term health. Through proper exercise, nutrition, and comprehensive wellness training, he continues to demonstrate that it’s possible to stay active, strong, and “in the game” at any age.
BAD Method Fitness was founded in 2025 by Dr. Brian A. Davis, MD, CPT, who is recognized worldwide as the "BAD MD." This innovative fitness approach combines Dr. Davis's expertise in non-surgical Sports Medicine and Personal Training with the collaborative efforts of the Physical Therapists at KIME Performance and the Personal Trainers of Nevada Fit. Together, they aim to provide a holistic fitness experience that prioritizes both health and performance.

Who is the "BAD MD?"


Dr. Brian Davis is a seasoned specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) with a focus on Sports Medicine, practicing since 1997. He spent the majority of his distinguished career at UC Davis in Sacramento, CA, where he helped establish one of the first five ACGME-accredited PM&R Sports Medicine fellowships in the United States. He served as the Sports Medicine Fellowship Director for over a decade, mentoring the next generation of sports medicine physicians.
Dr. Davis has provided medical care at three Olympic and three Paralympic Games and has worked with numerous elite organizations including USA Boxing, USA Taekwondo, USA Track and Field, USA Swimming, and USA Water Polo. His extensive experience also includes serving as Co-director of the California International Marathon and as team physician for professional baseball (Sacremento Rivercats; Triple-A) and soccer (Sacramento Republic FC; USL) teams.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Davis is known internationally for his expertise in the neuromusculoskeletal exam, biomechanics, and injury rehabilitation. He has lectured widely across specialties and authored or edited several influential textbooks, including The Ringside Physician Manual for USA Boxing, The 3-Minute Musculoskeletal and Peripheral Nerve Exam, and ACSM's Comprehensive Sports Medicine Review.
In a unique evolution of his career, Dr. Davis recently became a Certified Personal Trainer to help bridge the gap between rehabilitation and return-to-sport training. He remains a Clinical Professor at UC Davis and holds appointments at three other prestigious medical institutions.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Davis is an avid runner, cyclist, swimmer, and martial artist. He practices what he preaches; ample exercise, proper nutrition, emotional well-being, and NO STEROIDS. He continues to teach, publish, and is a proud father to his children, Nate and Dani and his two dogs, Lexie and Chewy.
